Match Preview

Head coach Zac Taylor already let the cat out of the bag by ruling out all Cincinnati starters for this preseason finale, but don’t think for a second there isn’t real juice here. Cincinnati enters winning four of their last five games, while Philadelphia is staggering through a four-game skid. Can Philly’s backup units actually right the ship before Week 1, or are we looking at another sluggish performance? I know where my money is going.

Cincinnati is rolling right now. They just thumped Chicago 27-9, and we recently saw them drop 45 points on Miami and 37 on Arizona. Even with the main guys wearing baseball caps on the sideline, the offense has plenty to play for.

What I like about Cincinnati’s spot right now is the sheer intensity of their backup quarterback battle. You have Josh Johnson and Sean Clifford fighting for that QB3 spot, and both guys showed out in Week 2. Plus, kicker Evan McPherson is out here casually drilling 58-yard field goals, so their special teams are already locked in. With depth receivers like Dohnte Meyers and rookie tight end Jack Endries competing for their NFL lives to make the 53-man roster, this reserve unit isn’t going to coast. They average over 360 total yards per game for a reason, putting up around 260 through the air.

Turnovers 0.4/game

What is going on in Philadelphia right now? They have lost four straight games, dropping a 24-21 decision to New England last time out after getting blown out 24-7 by Baltimore. Sure, Carson Steele gave us a highlight-reel touchdown by vaulting over a defender against the Pats, but highlight plays don’t mask a passing attack that is averaging under 180 yards. Their tight end room is taking hits too. Rookie Eli Stowers is dealing with a hamstring injury after struggling with blocking all camp, leaving veteran free agent signing Johnny Mundt clearly ahead of him on the depth chart.

The Eagles do protect the football well, averaging under half a turnover per game, and they generate roughly 130 yards on the ground. But when your offense struggles to move the chains through the air, winning football games gets ugly in a hurry.

Head-to-Head Record

Date Stage Match Score Winner
2025-08-07 Pre Season Philadelphia Eagles vs Cincinnati Bengals 34-27 Philadelphia Eagles
2024-10-27 Regular Season Cincinnati Bengals vs Philadelphia Eagles 17-37 Philadelphia Eagles
Team Wins
Cincinnati Bengals 0
Draws 0
Philadelphia Eagles 2

Philadelphia has owned this series recently, taking a 34-27 win in August 2025 and beating Cincinnati 37-17 back in October 2024. But I am throwing those past head-to-head results right out the window for this one. Cincinnati is on an 80 percent winning tear over their last five outings while the Eagles are dropping games to everyone. Past history won’t save a team struggling to generate drive consistency.

Betting Analysis & Tips

Market Selection Odds
Moneyline Cincinnati Bengals 2.17
Moneyline Philadelphia Eagles 1.61
Total Over/Under 36.5

The sportsbooks have Philadelphia favored at 1.61, but my gut tells me the value is completely flipped here. We project a 29-15 victory for Cincinnati, yet you can grab the Bengals at a juicy 2.17 price tag. Taking a surging team getting plus-money against a squad on a four-game skid is an easy call for me.

Final Prediction

I am taking the Cincinnati Bengals moneyline at 2.17 all day long. Even with Zac Taylor resting his starter core, Cincinnati’s reserves have far more juice and offensive rhythm right now. Give me Cincinnati to comfortably cover and get the outright win.

Predicted Score Cincinnati Bengals 29 – 15 Philadelphia Eagles
