Seattle Seahawks vs Denver Broncos – NFL Prediction
Match Preview
Sean Payton taking back offensive play-calling duties tells you everything you need to know about Denver’s desperation right now. The Broncos are trying to jumpstart a lifeless offense while Seattle comes in hungry to bounce back after a painful 32-29 loss to the 49ers where Cooper Kupp was ruled short on fourth down. Can Denver’s sputtering attack keep up with a Seattle squad averaging well over 300 yards of total offense? I seriously doubt it.

What I like about Seattle is their ability to put up points when Sam Darnold gets in a rhythm. Yeah, Darnold threw two picks against San Francisco and they lost a 32-29 nailbiter, but this offense can move the chains.
Look at the overall body of work. They blew out Arizona 31-7 on the road, dropped 30 on the Chargers, and put up 29 against a tough Niners squad. Darnold hit Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a clean 16-yard score in that San Francisco game, showing the deep-play capability they possess. Sure, the 1.8 turnovers per game give me pause, and they dropped a 33-31 shootout in Washington earlier. But when Seattle is clicking, their rushing attack gives them just enough balance around 106 yards a game to keep defenses honest.

Is Bo Nix really ready to carry this offense on his back? Through four weeks, Denver ranked 28th in points scored at under 17 a game, and they mustered a pathetic 13 total first-half points across those four games, their worst start in a half since 2000. Nix was sitting 23rd out of 29 qualified passers in first-half EPA per dropback and barely pushed the ball downfield, attempting only 11 passes of 20-plus air yards. That is exactly why Payton took play-calling away from Davis Webb and grabbed the headset himself.
They did manage a 23-17 win over the Chargers last time out, but don’t let that fool you. They were missing Patrick Surtain II and Riley Moss at corner and had to elevate practice-squad guys Brent Austin and Sean Fresch Jr. just to field a secondary.

The past two meetings both went Seattle’s way, including a 26-20 win in September 2024 and a 17-16 defensive battle back in 2022. History says these games stay tight, but given Denver’s offensive struggles and banged-up secondary, past history takes a backseat to current reality.

Denver losing Patrick Surtain II to an ankle injury and Riley Moss to ribs cripples their secondary against a potent passing game. Meanwhile, Seattle being without Zach Charbonnet hurts their running back depth, but Denver’s cornerback crisis is the real game-changer here.
Betting Analysis & Tips
| Market | Selection | Odds |
|---|---|---|
| Moneyline | Seattle Seahawks | 1.55 |
| Moneyline | Denver Broncos | 2.30 |
| Total | Over/Under | 42.0 |
I see serious value in Seattle covering the -8.5 spread. We project a 29-17 finish, and Denver’s offense simply lacks the firepower to stay within a touchdown if Seattle gets ahead early. With the total line set at 42.0, taking the over on Seattle’s team total feels like the smartest play on the board.
Final Prediction
I’m taking Seattle to cover the spread and handle business handily. Sam Darnold’s propensity for giveaways makes me a little twitchy, but Denver’s offensive woes are way too deep to ignore. Give me the Seahawks 29-17 in a game that shouldn’t feel that close.
