Baltimore Ravens vs Atlanta Falcons – NFL Prediction
Match Preview
Lamar Jackson is listed as questionable, and that single injury update changes everything about how I view this Week 5 showdown. Baltimore sits at 3-1 under head coach Jesse Minter, fresh off a hard-fought 24-18 victory over Tennessee, but Atlanta is suddenly hot as red iron. The Falcons just blew out New Orleans 45-24 and green-lit a full-blown offensive revival under Michael Penix Jr. Can Baltimore’s ground attack keep pace with an Atlanta squad that just put together back-to-back 20-point wins for the first time since 2016?

What I like about Jesse Minter’s team is their sheer offensive efficiency when they get rolling. Averaging north of 400 total yards per game with an impressively low 0.6 turnovers, they showed their ceiling by dropping 41 points on both Washington and Indianapolis earlier this season.
That said, they are far from invisible on the defense, as that 24-17 home drop to New Orleans proved. They rebounded nicely with a tough 34-31 road win at Dallas and grounded out a six-point win against the Titans, but you can feel the depth being tested. The front office made a sharp move bringing in offensive lineman Cam Jurgens via trade from Philadelphia to bolster the front, helping an attack averaging around 160 rushing yards per game. However, if Lamar Jackson cannot go or plays at less than full health, this whole dynamic shifts fast.

So how real is this Atlanta resurgence? Just look at the numbers since Michael Penix Jr. took over under head coach Kevin Stefanski and play-caller Tommy Rees. Running heavy under-center and play-action concepts, Atlanta is piling up 40 points and around 460 yards per game over his two starts with just a single turnover. Compare that to the disaster under Cooper Rush, where they averaged a abysmal 8 points and turned it over seven times, including a 34-3 beatdown from Carolina. RBs Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson combined for five rushing touchdowns against New Orleans, capping off drives with touchdowns on five of their final six non-kneel possessions.
Their defense still gives me pause after yielding 20 points to Pittsburgh and getting shredded early in the year. Yet, with this offense operating at a track-meet speed, they can trade blows with anybody.

Do past head-to-head results mean anything here? Not a chance. Baltimore won the last two low-scoring meetings, including a tight 13-12 matchup in 2024 and a 17-9 win back in 2022, but both franchises look drastically different today. With Penix throwing strikes for Atlanta and Baltimore cranking out massive offensive totals, throw those old defensive slugs out the window.

Betting Analysis & Tips
| Market | Selection | Odds |
|---|---|---|
| Moneyline | Baltimore Ravens | 2.44 |
| Moneyline | Atlanta Falcons | 1.49 |
| Total | Over/Under | 43.5 |
The oddsmakers favor Atlanta at 1.49, but our analysis strongly favors Baltimore at 2.44 with a projected 33-21 win. The game total line sits at 43.5, which strikes me as extremely low given Atlanta’s 40-point explosion under Penix and our projected game total of 54. I see great value on taking the over on 43.5 total points before line adjustments happen.
Final Prediction
My gut says Baltimore finds a way to win straight up and cover the projected spread, though Jackson’s health tag makes me slightly twitchy. Even so, I am backing the Ravens’ run game and clean ball security to control the tempo. Give me Baltimore to out-execute the Falcons in a fast-paced battle.
