Who’s favored, and why

Sabalenka over Osorio. Osorio is currently ranked in the mid-80s with a career-high of No. 33 back in 2022. The gap in class is wide enough that this should be routine for the top seed.

Pegula over Ruse. Ruse sits in the 60s, career-high No. 51. Nothing in her recent results suggests she can trouble a top-3 seed.

Rybakina over Frodin, with one caveat. Frodin is a wildcard ranked outside the top 500, so this is a mismatch on paper. The one variable is Rybakina’s leg, which she has been managing coming into the tournament. This match works as a first real look at her fitness.

Gauff over Sonmez. Sonmez is a legitimate story in her own right, the highest-ranked Turkish woman in WTA history at a career-high No. 59, but that still leaves a significant gap to a top-4 seed.

Navarro over Boisson. This is the most lopsided matchup by trajectory. Boisson reached the French Open semifinal as a wildcard in 2025, one of the great Slam runs of the year, but her ranking has since collapsed once those points rolled off, dropping her outside the top 250 by mid-2026. Navarro is an established top-30 player and a 2024 US Open semifinalist at this same venue. She also won their only previous meeting, in September 2025.

Bouzkova over Jacquemot. Bouzkova enters as the seed with a steadier season. Jacquemot has slipped since her career-high of No. 53 earlier in 2026 and has not shown the form to trouble a seeded opponent here.
